詹姆斯是一个有名的学者，他结婚很晚。新婚之夜，新娘发现她的丈夫不理睬自己。只顾自己看书。

我希望自己是一本书”她叹着气说。

“为什么你想自己是一本书呢?”詹姆斯吃惊地问。

“那样你就能对我更有兴趣了。”

詹姆斯沉思后对她说：“亲爱的，恐怕那不行，你看，我看完一本书后总是又开始看另外一本，你愿意我也这样对待你吗?”

James was a famous scholar who married rather late in his life. In the wedding night the bride found her husband reading instead of attending to her.

“I wish I were a book, ”she said , sighing.

“What do you want to be a book for?” James asked with surprise.

“You would be more interested in me, then. ”

After serious thinking, he finally said to his bride, “I'm afraid that wouldn't do, my dear. You see, when I finish reading a book, Do you want me to do the same thing with you?”
